The PRO ASYL advisory council brings together members of churches, trade unions, welfare agencies and human rights organisations, along with refugee councils in the different federal states. They believe that a democratic and humane society has a duty to protect refugees and persecuted individuals. It was founded in 1986.

The members of the PRO ASYL advisory council represent a broad social spectrum, dealing in-depth with questions of asylum law and refugee policy. It initiates campaigns and public discussions on important issues.
