The PRO ASYL advi­so­ry coun­cil brings tog­e­ther mem­bers of church­es, tra­de uni­ons, wel­fa­re agen­ci­es and human rights orga­ni­sa­ti­ons, along with refu­gee coun­cils in the dif­fe­rent federal sta­tes. They belie­ve that a demo­cra­tic and huma­ne socie­ty has a duty to pro­tect refu­gees and per­se­cu­t­ed indi­vi­du­als. It was foun­ded in 1986.

The mem­bers of the PRO ASYL advi­so­ry coun­cil repre­sent a broad social spec­trum, dealing in-depth with ques­ti­ons of asyl­um law and refu­gee poli­cy. It initia­tes cam­pai­gns and public dis­cus­sions on important issues.
