An alliance between PRO ASYL, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), charitable institutions, churches, as well as human rights and refugee organizations, demand that Germany accept a quota of refugees from countries of first refuge, and allow the refugees to integrate into our society.

Due to wars, political conflicts, and other existing hardships, thousands of people are forced to flee their countries of residence each year. Very few of these refugees, however, are able stay in a secure country that can offer them a new life, and instead must remain in temporary situations within “countries of first refuge.” Eventually, many refugees would like to return to their countries of origin, but this return is often not possible for an indeterminate amount of time. Thus with no prospects for a dignified life, many refugees are trapped in provisional camps year after year.

We demand that Germany remove refugees from these precarious situations in countries of first refuge, and perform, what in technical terms, is called “resettlement.”

We would like to encourage a nation-wide campaign to advocate for German participation in domestic resettlement. Those who are interested in bringing this campaign to their home towns can find summaries, information, and tools on our homepage: save-me-kampagne.de.
